I own quite a few albums but for going on 40 years this has been one of the best in my collection. It's hard to say much that hasn't already been said about such an incredible album, but there is one point I think worth noting. There's never been any question in my mind about RT's greatness. As a writer, guitarist and even (now) a singer he is almost unmatched. But over time I've also come to appreciate Linda T's contributions. She's truly an outstanding singer, able to convey a range of emotions while interpreting RT's songs. She might not be Sandy Denny (who is!) but Linda has never really got her due as one of the outstanding female British singers of the 1970's-80's. Even in the field of folk or folk rock I'd take Linda over, e.g., Maddy Prior. Linda had a timeless singing quality, deeply emotional, fragile, quite beautiful. I wish she had more on disc after the divorce with RT but be thankful for what we have.
